Just clik "NO" and the word "vote". Please read below!!! Apparently many muslims are voting and trying to have this passed and they are at 73% with a "yes" vote now so our vote "no" is urgently required. Please send this on to everyone who you know will vote "no" - They took Christian prayer out of the schools years ago and we should have fought then. It's never too late! What happens in Toronto will have an impact across this country... so if you don't want this to happen in more schools you need to vote "no" . Aside from the religious part of this how in the world are they going to fit in praying 5 times a day??? Will this take away from the curriculum time they are already crying out "not enough time" so this then would become a political issue next.? With having to pay someone to supervise and so on... Vote "no"! We get our rights denied and they think they have the right to ask??? There is something wrong here... and if there are more Muslims out there voting it will be passed. Streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody is living on credit. A traveller comes to town and lays a $100 bill on the hotel desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs to pick one for the night. As soon as he walks upstairs, the hotel owner grabs the bill and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher. The butcher takes the $100 and runs down the street to retire his debt to the pig farmer. The pig farmer takes the $100 and heads off to pay his bill to his supplier, the Co-op. The guy at the Co-op takes the $100 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her "services" on credit. The hooker rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with the hotel owner. The hotel proprietor then places the $100 back on the counter so the traveller will not suspect anything. At that moment the traveller comes down the stairs, states that the rooms are not satisfactory,picks up the $100 bill and leaves. No one produced anything. No one earned anything... However, the whole town is now out of debt and now looks to the future with a lot more optimism. For the reasons I outlined to Mr. Holder, that section seems to me a continuing threat both to academic freedom and to freedom of the press. With best wishes -- Yours sincerely, Ken Hilborn Dear Mr. Holder: I understand that one of your Conservative colleagues has introduced a private member's bill that would repeal Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act, which severely restricts freedom of expression on the Internet. I hope that you will give your full support to this proposed legislation. When I was still on the active faculty at the University of Western Ontario (Department of History), I often taught a course on 20th Century totalitarianism -- both communism and Hitler's National Socialism (Nazism). It was my practice in class to quote certain ferociously anti-Jewish passages in Hitler's book Mein Kampf, so as to help students understand the origins of the Holocaust. With Section 13 in effect, I could still quote those passages in the classroom. I could NOT quote them, however, if I offered the same course on the Internet -- at least not without placing myself in legal jeopardy -- because under Section 13 the intent of an accused person is not recognized as a defence. Section 13 also threatens academic freedom, as well as the freedom of journalists, by its failure to recognize truth as a defence. A wide range of accurate statements about the conduct of people belonging to various groups, both in the present and in the past, may provoke complaints under Section 13, and even if the accuracy of the statements can be proven the person responsible for them may be exposed to the risk of costly legal proceedings and an eventual adverse ruling by a "human rights" tribunal. The mere knowledge of this possibility can have a chilling effect on the freedom of expression vital both to good journalism and to academic study.
