LOOKING FOR "HATE" EVERYWHERE IN HAMILTON |

LOOKING FOR "HATE" EVERYWHERE IN HAMILTON The basic story is that someone, in Hamilton, Ontario, perhaps a balding white guy, attached with masking tape two copies of a cartoon that had originally been published by the* Toronto Star* to mock a Florida pastor who had promised to burn copies of the *Koran*. Nevertheless, Hamilton police "hate squad" is investigating to see whether a "hate" crime was committed. The *Hamilton Spectator* (December 7, 2011) reports breathlessly: "Hamilton Downtown Mosque leaders are saying they are the victims of a hate crime after two copies of a cartoon depicting a caveman dropping a *Quran* into an open fire were taped to the women’s prayer entrance. The cartoons, which include the words 'primitive man discovers fire,' were found duct-taped to the doors of 96 Wilson St., on Sunday. The image, an editorial cartoon<http://goo.gl/e9R5u>, was originally published in the *Toronto Star* in September 2010 as a critique of Florida Pastor Terry Jones’ 'International Burn a *Quran* Day.' 'It was an attack on Pastor Terry Jones, calling him a primitive man,' *Toronto Star* spokesperson Bob Hepburn said Tuesday, adding that it was in no way an attack on Islam. At the time of publication, the Star did not receive any formal complaints, Hepburn said. It’s not the original intent, but rather the intention of the culprit that has Imam Sayed Tora concerned. 'If a person wants to show support for the Muslim community, there are many other ways to do it,' he said. Hamilton police spokesperson Catherine Martin said the hate crime unit is investigating whether the incident constitutes a hate crime (see sidebar) and are asking anyone with information to come forward." First, what "crime" was committed? None. The mosque was not vandalized or damaged. Someone posted copies of a cartoon originally meant as pro-Moslem. Nonetheless, the Hamilton Police Service has circulated copies on-line of the mosque's video of a bald man getting out of a car with what might be the cartoons in his hand. Hamiltonians are, of course, encouraged to rat their fellow citizens out. For what? Attaching a *Toronto Star* cartoon to a mosque door. *"Book him, Danno. Two counts of cartoon posting."* ** The whole "hate" crime thing is bogus. If someone is assaulted or a window broken, it shouldn't matter what the motive was -- whether the perpetrator disliked the person because he was a Moslem, or bald, or looked at him the wrong way. The crime should be punished. "Hate" crimes legislation seek to criminalize thought and opinion. If, indeed, someone opposed to Moslems did post the cartoon, so what? Moslems have made many enemies and people are perfectly within their rights in a FREE society to express their displeasure. Actually, it's the treasonous politicians who allowed hordes of people radically different from ourselves to flood into our country, regardless of the wishes of Canadians who are the culprits. The culture clash was certain to follow. The miracle is that passive, mild Canadians have been as tolerant of this invasion. Healthier countries would have had tens of thousands of angry citizens protesting in the streets when the government bungled yet again an incident like August, 2010's landing by over 500 Tamil Tiger organized illegals in British Columbia. It turns out the Hamilton Police Service has a Hate Crimes Unit headed up by Detective Nancy Lantz. A report for 2010 indicated that for this entire year there were 34 "hate crimes" investigated. O these, 17 were graffiti. With Hamilton rife with drugs, you really wonder how police can have the time to check out the nature of graffiti. So, "fuck everything" would be okay, but "fuck fags" would be a "hate crime"? Two of the remaining 17 "hate crimes" were "neighbour disputes." Is not getting along with your neighbour now a crime in the Steel City? There were three assaults and three apparently more serious forms of mischief and one arson. Fascinatingly, there's no record of how many charges were actually laid or the number of convictions, if any. However, the report presented to the Hamilton Police Service, April 18, 2011 and signed by Police Chief Glen de Caire concluded pompously: "Hate is a learned behaviour. Like bigotry and prejudice, people learn these behaviours through history and as they become products of their environment and cultural group. To address this issue* the HCU [Hate Crimes Unit] will continue to use the resources of the Hamilton Police Service, our police and community partners to work toward the eradication of hate in our community*." *Wow! Unable to control drug pushing, the Hamilton cops intend to control thought*. I was unable to determine how much this Hate Crimes Unit costs Hamilton taxpayers, but, in times of strained budgets, this should be one unit that could be shut down with a net saving and benefit to the community. Real; crimes -- assaults, serious property damage -- should be investigated and charges laid, if warranted, regardless of the presumed motives of their perpetrators. ** Paul Fromm Director Canadian Association for Free Expression ** ** ** *Editorial cartoon posted on mosque door prompts hate crime investigation *<http://www.thespec.com/news/local/article/635101--hate-crime-unit-investigating-cartoon-posted-on-mosque-entrance> - *Nicole O’Reilly * - *Wed Dec 07 2011 * *Hamilton Downtown Mosque leaders are saying they are the victims of a hate crime after two copies of a cartoon depicting a caveman dropping a Quran into an open fire were taped to the women’s prayer entrance.* *The cartoons, which include the words “primitive man discovers fire,” were found duct-taped to the doors of 96 Wilson St., on Sunday. * ** *The image, an editorial cartoon <http://goo.gl/e9R5u>, was originally published in the Toronto Star in September 2010 as a critique of Florida Pastor Terry Jones’ “International Burn a Quran Day.”* ** *“It was an attack on Pastor Terry Jones, calling him a primitive man,” Toronto Star spokesperson Bob Hepburn said Tuesday, adding that it was in no way an attack on Islam.* ** *At the time of publication, the Star did not receive any formal complaints, Hepburn said.* ** *It’s not the original intent, but rather the intention of the culprit that has Imam Sayed Tora concerned. “If a person wants to show support for the Muslim community, there are many other ways to do it,” he said. * ** *Hamilton police spokesperson Catherine Martin said the hate crime unit is investigating whether the incident constitutes a hate crime (see sidebar) and are asking anyone with information to come forward.* ** *The cartoons were discovered by the mosque’s board president, Wahed Al-Jabry, around 4 p.m. as the community prepared for a fast-breaking meal to celebrate the ninth day of Muharram – the first month in the Islamic calendar. Another member found plants around the mosque had been uprooted.* ** *Tora said the board gathered to discuss the incident, before deciding to report it to police Monday. The images and surveillance footage was handed over. * ** *The recording shows a dark, four-door car pull up in the mosque’s west parking lot around 3:45 p.m.. The driver remains in the car, while the passenger – a bald, white man – jumps out and carries what looks to be the two pieces of paper already taped together towards the mosque. * ** *The community is feeling stressed and fearful, Tora said, adding that his own nine-year-old daughter asked him whether the mosque will be attacked.* ** *The mosque cancelled children’s classes and the homework club Monday and Tuesday. After being promised increased police patrol, he said classes may resume soon.* ** *It’s “reasonable to assume” that the perpetrator was not posting the cartoon to support the Muslim community, but rather to support the ideas of Pastor Terry Jones, said Hussein Hamdani, spokesperson for the Muslim Council of Greater Hamilton, of which the Downtown Mosque is a member.* ** *He said the events are particularly disturbing since the mosque just held a well-attended open house.* ** *Most hate crimes against Muslims go unreported, Hamdani said. That’s why it was important for the community to speak out.* |

The fate of Section 13 ( http://www.stopsection13.com/ ) of the Canadian Human Rights Act (Canada’s vicious Internet censorship legislation) will be heard on December 13 and 14th, 2011 in the Federal Court of Canada. While there is much discussion about a possible political resolution ( http://www.stopsection13.com/repeal_sec13.html ), the facts are clear: whatever happens next week at the Federal Court will either kill Section 13, or put it on ice for another few more years until the spineless politicians deal with it, via Bill C-304 ( http://blog.freedomsite.org/2011/09/bill-c-304-act-to-amend-canadian-human.html ) in Parliament. The fate of Section 13 will be heard at: Tuesday December 13 and Wednesday December 14, 2011 Federal Court of Canada 180 Queen Street West Toronto, Ontario Starts 9:30am daily All hearings are open to the public The hearing is an appeal by the Canadian Human Rights Commission ( http://blog.freedomsite.org/2009/10/breaking-chrc-appeals-lemire-decision.html ) against a Sept 2009 decision ( http://chrt-tcdp.gc.ca/aspinc/search/vhtml-eng.asp?doid=981&lg=_e&isruling=0 ) by the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal in the Lemire case, which found Section 13 and 54 of the Canadian Human Rights Act to be unconstitutional legislation. This means that the Tribunal found Section 13 to be an affront to Canadian values and to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms which guarantees all Canadians the right to freedom of speech and expression. Lemire won the case against him ( http://blog.freedomsite.org/2009/09/statement-by-marc-lemire-on-tribunals.html ), and became the only person in the over 30 year reign of the Human Rights Act to EVER win a Section 13 case. The specific case against Marc Lemire (the merits) was not appealed by the Canadian Human Rights Commission or the serial complainant Richard Warman. The appeal by the CHRC is only to determine if Section 13 is constitutional legislation or not [See CHRC’s factum here ( http://www.freedomsite.org/legal/motions/20100125-CHRC_Factum.pdf ) and Lemire’s response ( http://www.freedomsite.org/legal/motions/20100215-FC_Factum.pdf )] The fate of Section 13 hangs in the balance of this appeal. While the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal found that Section 13 to be an affront to Canadians and threw out the law as unconstitutional, the Tribunal does not have the power to actually strike down a law in Canada. The Tribunal however has refused to hear any new cases ( http://blog.freedomsite.org/2010/05/breaking-canadian-human-rights-tribunal.html ) and stopped all pending Section 13 cases in the system. The Federal Court of Canada on the other hand, DOES have the power to strike down a law in Canada, which is why this hearing will decide the fate on Section 13 once and for all. The hearing next week will be the definitive battle for freedom in Canada. Will Canadians continue to be subjected to the fanatical reign of censorship ( http://blog.freedomsite.org/2011/07/chrc-no-section-13-complaints-in-2010.html ) by the out of control “human rights” commission or not? The battles lines have been drawn and the hearing set. The fate of Section 13 hangs in the balance! Supporting Freedom of Speech Defending Section 13 censorship Marc Lemire Canadian Human Rights Commission Canadian Free Speech League Canadian Jewish Congress BC Civil Liberties Association B’nai Brith Canada Canadian Civil Liberties Association Simon Wiesenthal Centre Canadian Association for Free Expression African-Canadian Legal Clinic MARC LEMIRE CASE In 2003, serial complainant Richard Warman filed a Section 13 complaint against Marc Lemire. The complaint alleged that Lemire “exposed” a long list of privileged minorities to “hatred and/or contempt” in violation of the Canadian ‘Human Rights’ Act. Lemire fought the ridiculous case against him for over 6 years, across close to 30 court days and in 5 cities ( http://blog.freedomsite.org/2009/06/lemire-2044-days-under-iron-heel-of.html ). In 2009 Lemire was found innocent ( http://blog.freedomsite.org/2009/09/statement-by-marc-lemire-on-tribunals.html )and the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal also found Section 13 (internet censorship) and Sec. 54 (fines) to be unconstitutional legislation ( http://www.stopsection13.com/constitutional_challenge.html ). In October 2009, the fanatical CHRC appealed the case to the Federal Court to save their taxpayer funded censorship franchise. The Lemire case exposed the corrupt underbelly of censorship ( http://www.freedomsite.org/legal/infiltrators_target_lemire-Motion_filed_for_Bell_Subpoena.html ) and documented how out of control the censors were. 1: During the Lemire hearing, the chief Internet investigator at the CHRC – Dean Steacy testified ( http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NjY1YWJhNDc5ZTkyYzE4NTE3NTYyM2Q1ZTBkZjIxYzQ= )that “Freedom of speech is an American concept, so I don't give it any value. It's not my job to give value to an American concept.” 2: The CHRC was exposed as an out of control government agency that creates online accounts on neo-Nazi websites to promote hate and entrap respondents ( http://www.freedomsite.org/legal/infiltrators_target_lemire-Motion_filed_for_Bell_Subpoena.html ). It was also revealed that the CHRC has registered Postal Boxes under false names in the Ottawa area. (Contravention of the Postal Act) 3: In order to cover their tracks online, the CHRC has hacked into a private woman’s wireless internet account ( http://www.freedomsite.org/legal/CHRC_criminal_complaint.html ). The RCMP ( http://www.freedomsite.org/legal/july18-09_rcmp_access_req.html ) and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada ( http://www.freedomsite.org/legal/CHRC_privacy_complaint.html ) has investigated the CHRC for criminal theft of internet communications. 4: The CHRC has submitted court transcripts to the Tribunal where devastating key testimony was oddly ‘missing’ ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyKRUbogQfg ). 5: The CHRC invoked ‘National Security’ laws ( http://www.freedomsite.org/legal/june11-07_chrc_abuses_section_37.html ) to attempt a cover-up and hide the misdeeds of their employees on internet message boards. They only admitted to spying on Canadians after an appeal to the Federal Court by Lemire ( http://www.freedomsite.org/legal/jan16-08_Victory-at-federal-court.html ). 6: The CHRC was so despicable, that during the hearing they actually tried to have Lemire banned from his own hearing ( http://ezralevant.com/2008/03/a-secret-trial.html ) (Ottawa May 2007) claiming that national security was at stake if Lemire and the public saw the CHRC’s witnesses. 7: The Tribunal hearing was stacked against Lemire with 16 different lawyers ( http://www.freedomsite.org/legal/june4-2011_source_docs_on_lemire_interview.html ) representing taxpayer funded organizations and government bodies. The CHRC had at least 6 lawyers! >> Donate online here to support Freedom ( http://www.stopsection13.com/support.html ) _____________________________ Unsubscribe / Change Profile: http://ymlp251.net/u.php?id=gmjhqsqgsgbbqguws Powered by YourMailingListProvider |
